When His Desire Prevails

“But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah knows, while you know not.”

*Surah Al-Baqarah 2:216*

”You have your desire, and Allah has His desire. Allah’s desire shall reign. If you surrender to His desire, He will grant you your desire. But if you oppose it, He will exhaust you in pursuit of yours, and in the end, only His desire shall prevail.”

This is one of those words that doesn’t just speak to your mind. It speaks to your soul.

How many times have you clung to something with everything in you, only to find yourself drained, confused, and heartbroken when it didn’t work out?

A job you were sure was written for you.

A child you sobbed for.

A relationship you thought would lead to marriage.

An opportunity you begged for in Tahajjud.

You did everything. You made du’ā, prayed Istikhārah, stayed up at night pleading. But still, Allah closed the door.

And in the moment, it’s hard. You might feel rejected, even forgotten. You wonder if your du’ā was ignored or if you did something wrong.

But this reminder brings clarity.

You have your desire, and Allah has His.

And while yours is limited by what you see and know, His is based on His complete knowledge, mercy, and wisdom.

If you surrender to His will, even if it hurts a little at first, you’re carried. You’re gently redirected. And one day you look back and think,

Ya Allah, thank You for not giving me what I was so desperate for.

But if you insist, if you continue fighting for something not meant for you, Allah may allow you to pursue it, but that pursuit will come with exhaustion. With heaviness. With blocks and resistance that feel like warning signs from the heavens.

Have you ever experienced that?

Where every step forward feels forced, and your heart is no longer at peace?

That is the fatigue of chasing your own will while ignoring the quiet nudge of divine wisdom.

Sometimes the thing you want most is actually a test.

And sometimes the thing you fear most losing is the exact thing Allah is gently removing to make space for what your heart truly needs.

This doesn’t mean we stop making du’ā or silence our dreams.

It means we pour our hearts out to Allah and ask from Him with love and certainty, but then we detach from the outcome and attach to the One who holds all outcomes in His hand.

So take a moment to reflect.

What are you currently holding onto tightly?

Is there something you are chasing that constantly feels blocked?

Have you made space for Allah’s will, or are you clinging to your own out of fear and control?

And can you recall a time when something didn’t work out, but later you were grateful it didn’t?

That is the mercy of Al-Hakīm, the Most Wise.

Let this be a gentle turning point. A moment of surrender.

Whisper to your Lord:

Ya Allah, I want what I want, but I want Your will more than anything.

If it’s not good for me, remove it from my path and remove the attachment from my heart.

And if it is good for me, bring it to me with ease and barakah.

Because the truth is, when you surrender to His desire, He may grant you your own in the most beautiful way

or He may give you something far greater than what you ever imagined.

And in both, your heart will find peace.

What is meant for you will not require you to be in constant conflict with Allah’s plan.

It will come with signs of mercy, ease, and clarity.

And what is not meant for you, no matter how hard you try, will never settle your heart.

Trust Him.

He never withholds except to protect.

He never redirects except to guide.

And He never says no without meaning to give you something better in a way you may not yet understand.

Let His desire prevail.

And you’ll find yours fulfilled in ways only He can arrange.
