Al-Qahhār – The One Who Overpowers All
Al-Qahhār is the One who has complete power and dominance over everything. Nothing can overcome Him, resist Him, escape Him, or happen outside of His control. Every king, every tyrant, every person, every creation is completely under His authority.
No matter how powerful someone appears in this world, Allah alone is truly Al-Qahhār.
Understanding Al-Qahhār in daily life:
• Sometimes life feels chaotic and out of control. People hurt us, situations change unexpectedly, and we feel powerless. Al-Qahhār reminds us that while things may seem out of control to us, they are never out of control for Allah.
• There are people who act arrogantly, as though they control everything — wealth, status, relationships, or even the hearts of others. But Allah can change situations in a moment. He can humble the powerful and raise the weak.
• Sometimes our biggest battle is not with others, but with our own nafs, desires, fears, overthinking, or sins. Al-Qahhār reminds us that Allah can overpower what feels impossible within us too.
The addiction you think you cannot leave.
The sadness you think will never lift.
The fear controlling your heart.
The attachment that consumes you.
Allah is able to overpower all of it.
And sometimes Allah uses difficult situations to overpower our ego.
We plan our lives a certain way, believing we are fully in control, until something unexpected happens and reminds us how dependent we truly are on Him.
Not to break us, but to bring us back to humility.
Al-Qahhār teaches us surrender.
Because once you realise Allah controls everything, your heart slowly stops obsessing over controlling everything yourself.
You stop believing people hold your destiny.
You stop believing your future depends only on your efforts.
You stop believing your problems are bigger than Allah’s power.
Reflection for today:
• What situation in my life feels bigger than me right now?
• What am I trying to control instead of surrendering to Allah?
• How has Allah humbled me in ways that ultimately brought me closer to Him?
A Du‘ā to connect with:
“Ya Qahhār, overpower the fears, sins, attachments, and weaknesses that distance me from You. Help me surrender fully to Your control and trust that nothing is greater than Your power.”
Al-Qahhār reminds you that nothing can overpower Allah — not your pain, not your fears, not the people who hurt you, and not the problems that feel impossible. The One who controls the entire universe is fully capable of taking care of your heart, your life, and your future.
