Let Not Allah Remain a Stranger to You

So many of us say we believe in Allah, that we love Him, that we trust Him. But if we’re honest with ourselves do we really know Him?

Think about your closest friend. The love and trust you have for them didn’t appear overnight. It came from long conversations, shared experiences, vulnerable moments, time spent understanding one another. That kind of closeness is cultivated, it’s built on intention and presence.

Now imagine how deep and unshakeable your connection with Allah could become if you gave even a fraction of that same effort and intention to Him.

But often, Allah remains like an acquaintance to us. Someone we know about rather than someone we truly know. We know His names, but we don’t take the time to reflect on what they mean in our lives. We turn to Him in hardship but forget Him in ease. We recite His words but rarely pause to let them reach our hearts. We speak of Him, but have we truly sat with Him, in silence, in longing, in trust?

Knowing about Allah is not the same as knowing Him.

Many of us inherit our knowledge of Allah through others through parents, teachers, culture. But knowing Him second-hand will never ignite that fire of love and connection. You must seek Him yourself. You must sit with His words, call on His names, open your heart to Him in sujood and let your soul speak freely. You must build that relationship one moment, one whisper, one tear, one du’ā at a time.

Because the more you truly know Allah, the more your heart will soften toward Him. The more you will begin to trust His Qadr. The more you will run to Him, not just in pain, but in joy. And you’ll find yourself falling in love with a Rabb whose mercy overwhelms your fears, whose nearness quiets your overthinking, whose presence becomes your safest home.

Let not Allah remain a stranger in your life. Invite Him into your everyday moments. Let Him be your first thought when you rise, and your last whisper before you sleep. Speak to Him often. Listen for His replies through the unfolding of your life. Build a relationship where you don’t just remember Allah, but you feel deeply known, held, and loved by Him.

Because He already knows you better than anyone ever could.

And He’s just waiting for you to truly know Him too.
