If We Truly Understood How Much Allah Loves Us
If we truly understood how much Allah loves us, our relationship with Him would be completely different.
Many of us grew up hearing the phrase, “Allah is watching you.” And often it was said in a way that made it feel frightening, as though Allah is only watching to catch us doing something wrong. So without realising it, we begin to associate Allah’s watchfulness with fear, shame, and the feeling of constantly being judged.
But what if we paused and looked at it from a different perspective?
Think about the way you look at someone you deeply love. Perhaps a child, a parent, a sibling, or even a close friend. Sometimes you simply watch them. Not because you’re looking for their mistakes, but because your heart feels full when you see them. You watch them laugh, you notice their little habits, and sometimes you just sit quietly and observe them existing. There is so much love in that gaze that doesn’t need words.
Now imagine this in a much deeper, purer, and more perfect way.
Allah sees you in every moment of your life. Not only when you are praying or doing something good, but also in the ordinary moments. When you are making tea in the kitchen. When you are driving to work. When you are folding laundry. When you are sitting alone thinking about your life and wondering where you are going.
He sees the moments when you are trying.
He sees the moments when you feel like you are failing.
He sees the quiet tears that nobody else knows about.
He sees the du’ā you whispered once and thought was too small to matter.
He sees the effort you make to be patient when you are tired. The way you hold your tongue when you could have spoken harshly. The way you keep going even when your heart feels heavy.
And the most beautiful part is that Allah’s watching is not like the watching of humans.
Human beings often watch with judgement. We compare. We criticise. We assume the worst. We look for flaws.
Allah watches with knowledge, mercy, and love.
Sometimes we spend our lives searching for love and validation from people. We want someone to see us. To understand us. To appreciate us. To choose us. And when we don’t receive that love in the way we hoped, our hearts feel empty.
But the truth is, the One who created you already sees you completely.
He sees the version of you that the world never notices.
The version of you that is trying to heal.
The version of you that is slowly learning to trust Him again.
The version of you that is whispering “Ya Allah, help me” even when you don’t know how things will work out.
If we truly understood this kind of love, we would approach Allah differently.
We would speak to Him more openly.
We would turn to Him in our ordinary moments, not only in our crises.
We would stop feeling like we have to be perfect before we come back to Him.
And perhaps most importantly, we would stop searching everywhere else for a love that only He can truly give.
Because the One who created your heart knows exactly how to fill it.
And the One who watches you is not waiting for you to fail.
He is waiting for you to turn back to Him.
